Ok, so I was a little under the weather last night and shouldnt have been playing poker. I thought I was playing well (although fairly conservatively). I got a little cold decked, and made some suspicious calls.
There was one hand where with some back information the player told me he was strong. This time, however, the tell was much more pronounced. Staring at the flop, followed by debate over how much to bet (there was never a doubt in his mind that he wouldn't). While the debate was going on I told myself it didn't matter how much he bet. I was going to see his cards. I had to know, if the tell was right this time then it will be right every time.
Normally when a player stares at the board after the card comes down it is a signal of weakness, in this case I am confident they do it to make sure they have as good a hand as the think. It was definitely an unconscious tell. This player will make no more money from me. And in this case they had the NUTS (that's why it was more pronounced).
All in all it was an OK night, with its up and downs. Its the runner-runners and the people backing their way into hands that gets me down. All I can do is keep observing and strive to make correct decisions.
